People love television. We're taking that experience to the next level by making your set-top box, video gateway, and TV viewing devices smarter. And when they're smarter, they can do more. As audio and video traffic over wireless networks has grown exponentially, operators around the world have struggled to deal with managing the challenge.
As service providers meet the changing expectations from their customers, driven in many cases by retail OTT products, they're looking for technology that provides great consumer experiences. 互聯網的 OTT 服務發展迅猛,但受制于網絡帶寬、內容版權和政策制約,將面臨發展瓶頸。在互聯網時代,廣電的直播服務仍是剛性需求,但孤立于互聯網之外的廣播服務將沒有未來。廣電網絡的優勢是廣播帶寬、可管可控和優質服務,但其發展受制于機頂盒和條件接收系統以及封閉的商業模式?;ヂ摼W視頻和廣電視頻服務模式都需要轉型、都需要可管可控、都需要多屏服務、都需要提升用戶感受,兩者在模式、技術、政策和產業鏈等多方面是天然的互補,但都缺失在雙向、智能多屏環境下的可管可控機制。中國面向 DVB+OTT 的 DRM 標準即將頒布,帶有 DRM 的家庭電視路由器將是代表未來多屏服務的最佳解決方案。
The internet OTT services achieved a rapid development during the past decade. However, a bottom neck will be reached in the recent future due to the network bandwidth, the copyright and policy constraints.
In the internet age, demand for live radio and television programs still exists, yet its market is vague if the traditional mean of distribution is isolated from internet platform.
Even though the traditional broadcasting benefits from its advantages of larger bandwidth, DRM system, and quality services, some factors, for instance, the CA system within the set-top box and the conservative business model hinder its prosperity.
Transformations can happen for both OTT and DVB with regard to DRM service, multi-screen service, and enhanced user experience.
OTT and DVB are natural complement of each other in terms of operational model, technology, policy, and industry chain. They both need however the controllable mechanisms in two-way and multi-screen service. With the expected promulgation of China DRM standard of DVB+OTT, the Home Internet TV Router with DRM configuration will make the future of multi-screen services prosperous. |

抗擊 IPTV 的侵蝕,廣電有線網絡不得不進行雙向網絡的改造,但 IPTV 的實質是全國一張網的云服務,終端價值才有體現。應對互聯網視頻的用戶流失,廣電祭起了 DVB+OTT 的寶劍,但 OTT 的實質是劍指廣電有線網絡的家庭用戶。
“云相連,視互聯”一文首次應用互聯網思維來思考廣電有線運營商目前的困境,創新地提出,先以廣電“微云服務,相互連接”的概念,實現廣電有線用戶一體的目標,同時通過“視頻的互通”,將服務“有線電視用戶”的業務轉向“移動屏幕用戶”,跨界到互聯網的范疇。文中指出“云相連,視互通”才是“廣電有線運營商”三網融合的唯一出路。
To fight against the erosion of IPTV, CATV networks have to achieve the two-way network transformation. But the essence of IPTV is cloud services based on one single national network , which embodies the terminal value. To deal with the losing of internet video subscribers, the cable operators take DVB+OTT as a powerful tool. But substantially, OTT aims at the family subscribers of CATV.
Internet thinkingis applied to the paper, ‘Connect Cloud Services, Interwork Videos', for the first time to thinking about the current dilemma of cable operators. This paper creatively proposes that ‘Connecting each other with cloud services' achieves the cable operators and subscribers becoming one flesh and crossover to internet, turns serving ‘CATV subscribers' to serving ‘mobile screen subscribers' by ‘Interwork Videos'. The paper points out that ‘Connect Cloud Services, Interwork Videos' is the cable operators' only way out of the convergence of the telecommunication, Internet and broadcasting networks into one complete system.
